what I learned

In this project I learned more than just facts about global warming. I learned about how people can come together on something they, for the most part, all agree on. People don’t have to be disagreeing and fighting all the time. There are things that will eventually affect us all that we all need to work together on. While looking up info for my part, what is it; I found some really shocking statistics, and information. This project really opened my eyes to what is really going on, and what might be happening in the future. You can’t just depend on others to do their work, or for things to just come together. You actually have to make things work, and people do their part. I really liked this project. It wasn’t just some easy project we could all blow off, and hope it turns out okay. We all worked together on this, and it shows that when people work together good things can come out of it. Kind of like if everyone works together to help the earth, we could help prevent and save others from what’s going on. This was a project we could learn from in all areas.

I had a super duper good time in your class Pomerantz  :]  not just saying that haha.

Response to class outing

I was pretty darn fond of our class outing. :) 1st off it was really nice outside so a lot of people were out and about. Our group got four interviews which i think was good. One of them was not so good, so really we got three interviews. That surprised me though. The guy we interviewed said that global warming is unproven, which is true, but it just kind of shocked me to hear that. Im not really sure why. We got a shot of the BP guy changing the gas signs, which is way cool. Next time I think i would practice my question asking more. Rachel was pretty darn good at that, me…, not so much. ahah. ALSO… i liked the slushie :) thanks 7eleven for being there when i needed you the most. But in all seriousness, i really like this project. I’ve never done anything like it, and I’m glade  I am now. :)

Americans see global warming as serious problem

cite.

This article addresses Americans concern for global warming. according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports, 47% of the respondents think that global warming is a very serious matter, and 26% deem it as somewhat serious. 47 %  of respondents think global warming is caused mainly by humans, while 34% believe long term planetary trends are the cause. The article states that “The term global warming refers to an increase of the Earth’s average temperature.” and some believe it to be caused by human produced CO2 and other greenhouse gases.

I was surprised to find out that in 2007, the former vice president Al Gore was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize “for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change.” I didn’t know that. But it was shocking to me to see that only 47% of people thought that global warming was a serious matter. Out of all the people in the country that is a large amount of people, but not big enough. But it only includes the adults in this poll. Have you seen all the commercials about global warming on Nickelodeon? I learned that if you keep your car running for more than 20 seconds you would save more gas if you just turned your car off and it would cause less pollution obviously. I would like to see a poll for the kids to take, to see if they think that global warming is serious or not. We are going to be the ones facing the more serious consciences to come.

Pictures

I’m not sure if this will be any use to us but… I found this cite with a slide show of pictures and they are pretty intresting. Maybe we could use them if the people in our documentry are mentioning them or we are stating a fact.

Global Warming Heats Up

cite.

This article talks about how we all thought that global warming was something that could possibly become a problem many many years from now. “…it was that the glacial pace of nature would give us decades or even centuries to sort out the problem. But glaciers, it turns out, can move with surprising speed, and so can nature.” We can hardly deny that global warming isn’t occuring any more.  With things like cyclones with wind bursts that reached 125 m.p.h., droughts, and glaciers retreating 140 ft. per year how could any one argue against it?

I completly agree with this article. Honeslty it is one of the best i have read. Not only the arguements made to persue you, but the way the person aproches the subject and their style of writing. Im deffinatly jelouse. :) The way they talk about how the earth is “ill.” When they say that “The image of Earth as organism… has probably been overworked, but that’s not to say the planet can’t behave like a living thing, and these days, it’s a living thing fighting a fever. From heat waves to storms to floods to fires to massive glacial melts, the global climate seems to be crashing around us.” it makes me think. Not that Im trying to say the earth is actually alive like you and me, but that in a sence it is.. we are polluting it and causing to become sick, and its fighting back. I thought that was really cool. :)
