Everyone in the world needs water, but too much isn’t good. The Greenland ice sheet is melting and the Antartic ice sheet and rising the water level a noticably high. Major cities in Asia will be under water if the Greenland ice sheet melts. The ocean will rise 20 feet all over the world if that happends. As the climate warms so does the water, and when water becomes hot, it expands. the sea has been rising 3 millimeters each year since 1993. Half of that which has risen is because of climate change.
Obviously there are signs all around us that global warming is occuring. The ocean is rising and people will be greatly affected by these changes all around the world. We really need to work together on this to help soften the side effects. Although someof them may be positive side affects, most are not.

Roger A. Pielke Jr., an environmental policy expert at the University of Colorado at Boulder says that adapting to global warming would be more efficient and cost less that trying to prevent it. He says that instead of spending all this money on trying to reduce greenhouse gases and carbon dioxied levels, just spend the money on the things that are being effected. The things that need it now. The people who are going hungry because of droughts, send them food, spend money on fertalizer that will help, not trying to change the enviroment. Hans von Storch, director of the Institute of Coastal Research in Germany says that the worlds problems are already so big whats a little more on top? He says, “If you’re really concerned about drought, those are much more effective strategies than trying to bring down greenhouse gas concentrations.”
Some of this is very true. Its very important to help the people now, than to try and help the generations that might be greatly effected by this. Its not even a garuntee that anything mayjor will happen. But that doesnt mean we should stop trying to help the earth all toghether. Just that we should also try and help those suffering now. Its all one big process, if this continues in a little the drought may get worse, so we should try to prevent that while also trying to help the people who are effected by it. If you always just add a little more, it becomes a lot more. So its not as simple as, whats a little more?

Earth hour went on for an hour on March 29th at 8 o’clock. Many mayjor cities participated in this event. National monuments and skyscrapers all alike turned out thier lights. Although there were some buildings, like banks and pubs, who refused, most everyone participated in this world wide happening. they did this because electricity plants produce greenhouse gases that fuel climate change. Over 2.2 million Sydney residents and over 2,100 businesses switched off, leading to a 10.2% energy reduction across the city in 2007.
This event shows us that we can do things as simple as turning off our lights, makes a diffrence. This shows that people are willing to work together to help save our earth. It all starts with one act, and can turn into something as big as this. Last year Sydney was pretty much the main city that participated in this, and then this year countries around the world are participating. Next year who knows what will happen. If people just switched things off when they werent in use, we could reduce our energy intake by so much.
